We support responsible tourism in Iceland

Last Wednesday, Bjarni Freyr (our CEO) signed on behalf of Ísafold Travel, Volcano Huts and ÍSAK 4×4, a declaration on responsible tourism. The declaration is an initiative by Festa, the Icelandic Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Over 200 other Icelandic businesses signed the declaration at the same time. By signing, we pledge to operate our business in a responsible manner and to adopt a Corporate Social Responsibility policy in the following 4 areas.

1. Respect the natural environment
2. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers
3. Honour the rights of our employees
4. Give back to our community

We advocate respect to the natural environment by asking our guides and customers to stay on the trail and not drive off road. We give back to the community by supporting the trail project in Þórsmörk, the Safe Travel project, Hálendisvaktin and the Landsbjörg (search and rescue teams) every year.

More information about this initiative can be found here.
